A large Tōgatta-kei kokeshi by Sato Fumio (佐藤文雄), standing approx. 44.5 cm and signed 文雄 on the base. The body carries a bold brushed kanji 寿 (Kotobuki), a traditional character associated with longevity and celebration, rendered in the fluid, assured hand that characterises Fumio's mature Shōwa-period work.

Tōgatta is one of the eleven officially recognised kokeshi traditions, originating in the Zao Onsen area of Miyagi Prefecture and known for its slender form and refined painted decoration.

A large Tōgatta-kei kokeshi by Sato Fumio (佐藤文雄), standing approx. 44.5 cm and signed 文雄 on the base.
