A wide, low tray-form kōro in Nanbu Tekki sand-cast iron, entirely covered in the arare hailstone pattern, made in 1970 and never used. The base carries a full inscription pressed into the iron before casting: 長岡市公共下水道中部ポンプ場, Nagaoka City Public Sewage Central Pump Station, dated the sixth of March, Shōwa 45. This is a kinenhin, a commemorative gift object produced by a Nanbu Tekki foundry to mark the completion of a public infrastructure project, intended for the engineers, officials, and contractors involved. Original box with the 南部鉄器 mark included.
